Domiphen bromide's aliases include beta-phenoxyethyldimethyldodecylammoniumbromide; bradosolbromide; dimethyldodecyl(2-phenoxyethyl)-ammoniubromide; dodecyldimethyl(2-phenoxyethyl)-ammoniubromide; bradasol; bradonit; bradoral; bradosol; N,N-dimethyl-N-(2- phenoxyethyl)dodecan-1-aminium bromide. It is white or slightly yellow flaky crystal, soluble in water and alcohol. It is a cationic surface active broad-spectrum bactericide, and its antibacterial spectrum and antibacterial activity are similar to those of benzalkonium bromide. Its action is enhanced in alkaline conditions; its efficacy is reduced in the presence of soaps, synthetic detergents, acidic organic substances, pus and blood. It is suitable for adjuvant treatment of oral and throat infections and disinfection of skin and instruments.
